It's not always about us, but that's how I'm going to frame today's entry in the Ice Block Perpetual Film Fest. As the business has been growing, we've had increased latitude to do our passion projects. About twice a month, Will and I sit down and hash out whatever projects are on our minds and try our best to collectively isolate a couple good ideas that we continue to develop.
When we have these conversations, the question always comes up: What stories should we be telling?
I've rolled that thought around in my head for a while and finally realized why the answer was so elusive. It's the wrong question. There isn't any answer to something like that, especially on the independent circuit.
After giving it some thought, I found the question we should be asking: What story can only we tell?
Now, that's a question that can be answered. Tyler is a film that shows a filmmaker answering that question perfectly. Writer-Director Sam Benenati exists at the single vertex where the cast, the emotions, and the environment intersect. He and his team translate these unique ideas perfectly to the screen and they are the only ones on this planet who could have made this exact film.
Ice Block was not involved in the production of this short film.
